RWSI has been the first organization in the country to start ground training courses for civil helicopter pilots in September 2004. Since then, a total of 7175 candidates have benefitted from 962 courses conducted by RWSI on various subjects. RWSI is continuously putting effort in developing and maintaining its training programmes. During the FY 2021-22, it trained a total of 483 pilots in various courses.
RWSI training faculty comprising of volunteer instructors with excellent professional standing have carried out ground training for industry professionals in wide ranging subjects including : Special VFR Ground Training, Adverse Weather Monsoon Operations/SGT Training, SMS Training, Human Factors Training, CRM Training, Aircraft Accident Prevention Training, Aircraft Accident Investigation Training, CAR-M Training & CAR-145 Training courses.

SPECIAL VFR
Special VFR Training enables helicopter pilots to fly safely within controlled airspace, in adverse weather, specially reduced visibility condition upto 1.5 km.

SAFETY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (SMS)
Monitoring and ensuring safety at all levels in the organization. This includes broadly the operator and all other agencies ensuring & regulating safety at all levels. Safety policy & culture are very important part of any organization. Management of change and constant improvements in the working environment of an organisation are important areas.

Monsoon / Adverse Weather Awareness training
Monsoon Adverse weather awareness training involves conduct of safe flight through the monsoon adverse weather throughout the Indian subcontinent. Monsoon are seasonal winds blowing due to ‘summer low pressure’ & ITCZ, in concert with trade winds.

- Norwester (Kalbaisakhi)

- Dust Bowl effect – avoidance / how to tackle

CREW RESOURCE MANAGEMENT TRAINING (CRM)
CRM is a set of training procedures for use in environments where human error can have devastating effects. It is the application of personal and team management concepts to enhance the safe operation of aircraft, both on the ground and in the air.
CRM includes not only the pilots, but the entire aircrew, ground crew, and all others who work together to operate the aircraft safely.
Human Factors / Soft Skills training, dealing with human behavior, Team Work, Cooperation with crew members, ensuring the safe conduct of the flight. Emphasis is on how to deal with stressful / emergencies, to ensure the safety of the aircraft.
CRM training focuses on the functioning of crew members as teams, not as a collection of technically competent individuals.
